Queer Program Lead

Syd Joseph (he/they)

Syd (he/they) is a trans queer kid-at-heart inspired by nature daily. A connection first sprouting with imaginative play amongst clusters of violet-blue harebells flourished with him over the years and continues to inspire their creative projects — the latest one being a gown made of recycled textiles hand-dyed by plant & green waste. He is a queer neurodivergent educator with teaching, facilitation, and programming experience in and outside of the classroom, and a growing passion for creating accessible learning opportunities with nature as a learning environment and as a teacher. They are endeavoring to share their enthusiasm and curiosity of what the natural world offers and strives to help foster meaningful connections led by EFSS to the land on Treaty 6 territory. Syd is the Dragonfly Educator & Queer Program Lead, highlighting opportunities for gender expression and gender creativity in spaces focused on supporting social and emotional safety, health, and wellbeing for queer folk and friends. He aspires to develop and nurture the Dragonflies program in collaboration with EFSS Educators as the first seedling of what he hopes will be a thriving Queer Forest School branch.
