Virginia Lewis (she/her)

Virginia has a huge passion for outdoor education in its many forms and believes children are happiest when surrounded by nature and provided the opportunity to follow their hearts and curiosities. She holds a permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate and has completed Forest School Practitioners certification under Child and Nature Alliance of Canada. She has taught for Edmonton Public School Board for 7 years in a Grade 1 French Immersion setting. She has engaged her classes in Forest Friday experiences for the past two years in French and weaved the curriculum around the child-led experiences.

She is a passionate educator who wishes to break down the barriers to risky outdoor play and ensure that every child has access to the fundamental learning that is found in our nature world.

Virginia loves to spend all her time outside gardening and exploring forests. She is lucky to have a wonderful family which includes her partner, Gareth, two young boys Theodin and Octavian, a dog and 6 sweet hens.

Virginia is a co-founder of the Edmonton Forest School Society.  She has moved to Ontario and continues to send her love to EFSS from afar.
